Handwoven one strand at a time in the U.S.A., the straw version of the iconic Open Road represents the ultimate mix of western heritage and modern versatility. High-quality shantung straw and a firm finish give the Open Road Straw a lightweight, yet substantial feel. With its western-style crown and 2 ¾” town-friendly brim, the Open Road Straw easily transitions from country to city, and looks equally sharp on a woman or a man. Introduced in 1937, the Open Road was originally sold with an open crown, which could then be creased to the customer’s liking. Since 1948, it has been finished with a traditional cattleman crease, and has been worn by modern pioneers and trailblazers ever since, from artists and outlaws to Presidents (including, most notably, LBJ, who was rarely photographed on his Texas ranch without his Open Road). The Open Road Straw features a genuine sheepskin leather sweatband and a 4” crown outfitted with a grosgrain hat band and branding-iron hat pin bearing the initials “JBS”, a nod to our founder, John B.     Didn’t like the look on me. I did like the fit though. I’m 60 cm. Would have liked the brim yo be flatter. Stiff straw difficult to steam and shape. Been down that road before. You can ruin a hat.

    Hat arrived miswoven with bumps on each of the two top ridges of the hat, distorting its profile (looked like little antler nubs). Customer service said this is within normal expected variation and would not process an exchange. So I had to return it. Very disappointed.

    Great looking hat, but runs very small. I’ve had to return it twice since they were both too small. I measured my head & according to the size chart, I needed a 7. But that size, and the next size up was too small. After speaking to a representative, she said a 71/4 will definitely fit, so trying it a third time.

    Hat looks and fits great. 60. 5 cm measured and with Stetsons advice purchased a 7 and 5/8. It fits just right. It is stylish, lightweight, blocks out the sun, keeps you cool as the straw lets the breeze through. Hat is well built and flawless.
