Designed to be the ultimate warm-weather outdoor companion, the Alder is handwoven one strand at a time from 100% fine linen seagrass. It has a 3 ¾” teardrop crown, a 3 ⅝” brim, a rugged leather hatband with chevron stitching and Stetson hat pin. I’m glad to have found what I was looking for with the Stetson site. The combined seagrass and UV protection works well on warm sunny days. The profile looks like a mellow fedora style outback hat. Personalized with trimming some of the excess leather in the hatband. A bit of resizing with adhesive cork strip also done.

I found the fit to be a little loose for my 7 1/8 hat size, but that was easily taken care of. As for the looks, it is exactly what I was looking for, not as much cowboy as fashionable, especially for the golf course. As for quality, its a Stetson so quality is great. This is a very lightweight hat with lots of air flow.

I really like the hat. But I was not happy with the explanation given for the Prop 65 warning sticker in my hat. The customer service representative did answer me as best she could in a timely manner, but she could not tell me which hats made by Stetson did not have these chemical that require a warning label. I was just in Jackson Hioe Wyoming where many shops sell Stetson Hats yet I didn’t see any warning labels making it difficult to determine the importance of these labels. Unfortunately I must assume that all Stetson Hats have one or more of these chemicals requiring a warning and the independent shops must just disregard them.

I had recently lost my previous seagrass hat and was looking for a replacement before an upcoming trip and stumbled upon this hat. Glad I found it, the fit is perfect and it has enough airflow to help keep cool on warmer days.
